Josh K and the Treasures Captain Automatic @ Live Jazz 1-26-05

On Wednesday, January 26th at midnight, come see Josh K. & The Treasures Captain Automatic play downtown's hottest new club* (possibly also its newest hot club), Live Jazz, at 366 E. 2nd St. $5 cover gets you in. By Wednesday at midnight, I mean go to the club sometime Wednesday evening, and stay til midnight, which we all know is technically Thursday. DO NOT COME TO THE SHOW REALLY REALLY EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING! Come out Wednesday night. Pretend you're young enough to stay up late.

Fais-Do-Do Benefit Show!

Josh K. and The Treasures will play a short set at a benefit for Christine Berry's Smartgals on Thursday, January 6th at 8 pm at Fais-Do-Do. Here are two unconfirmed predictions:

* Even though we're only supposed to do a three-song set, I bet if a lot of you show up at the show and clap really hard, they will let us rock you out with a numero cuatro.
* If you have some gifts that you want to get rid of, you can give them to Christine and she will raffle them away. This isn't part of the program, but I know her: she's a raffler, that Christine Berry. Ask her about how my dreidl candles lit her on fire, she'll like that.

Fais-Do-Do is at 5257 West Adams Blvd near La Brea.

sea level records on October 4th

I had been meaning to hold off on posting until I had a show to announce, but I thought you might like to see what happened at the sea level records show. It was a good time: there were Cheez-Its and beers and Banjo Max. Here's a picture of us doing "Save the Country", by Laura Nyro. A lot of people thought I said, "which Laura and I wrote", but no, just "Laura Nyro".

Click on the picture below for a little QT movie of us singing Austin's little ditty, "Dan Baker For Head Guy".

Zen

Rocking the house of Zen Sushi

SAwitching to acoustic for a first-anniversary presentation of 'Czarina'

Austin and Lady Boojum crunk up 'After Yesterday's Crash'

Thanks to everyone who came out to see us at Zen last night, and to Canon, the band that played afterwards and sounded really good.

Our First Shows!

It's time to come hear what it's all about. Yes: I'm playing live.

* MAIDEN VOYAGE: September 20th at 8:30 pm, come see Josh K. with Thrusters On! at Club Zen, 2609 Hyperion Avenue in Silver Lake. Sushi! Beer! Our first-ever live performance, unless you count the time Liz came over and listened to us do "A Gentleman's Game"! Best of all: it's free!
* CD RELEASE PARTY: On October 3rd at 3 pm, Josh K. & The Hype will play an in-store set at sea level records, the coolest little record store in Echo Park. 1716 W. Sunset Boulevard. Best of all: it's free! Come pick up your CD, maybe we'll have a raffle.

The Changes

I decided I would be more likely to update the news page regularly if it was in a user-friendly format like blogger. I will try to backfill this with all the news from the old page, but if you miss it, you can still find it here.

Our first cover!

Millions of Curtis Yee fans have written into this avant-garde musician to persuade them to cover the song of their choosing. On a lark, I suggested Curtis tackle Bad Woman #5. He chose it as one of his first three songs!

Indie 103.1

Indie 103.1 calls Reunion a "cute song about getting the band back together.". What's more important, they played it Sunday night.
